Assistance needed with installing patch manager on server 2012 remote SQL instance

I'm in the process of creating a fresh install of patch manager.  Had eval version on another box with local sql which ran without a hitch.  During install of new server with remote SQL, running into multiple errors.

Here's what I'm currently using for new environment:

Main server:  Server 2012

Remote SQL server:  Server 2012 w/ SQL 2012

Issues:

Ran install with advanced configuration to point to separate SQL instance.  On remote SQL server, I created a local account for this with sysadmin privileges in SQL and added domain service account with sysadmin privileges.  No matter which account I use, I consistently get "user doesn't have sysadmin privileges" error.  I've verified password and connection is correct using ODBC tests.  I've tried different scenarios, such as pre-creating the EminentWare db on the SQL box.

I don't see anything in install or admin guide that would pertain to this error.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.
