UPDATE: See details on DameWare v11 Beta 2 including detailed feature descriptions and screenshots.

Hello!

This year has seen plenty of good features with DameWare. We released v10 mid-year, added support for iOS as well as Android OS based mobile devices. We have also been busy chipping away on some other items in our bucket list. And now we have a beta for you to try. We'll take any feedback - positive, negative, radioactive,...

Welcome to the beginning of the DameWare v11 Beta. We are really excited about this next major release of DameWare and here is why:

  • DameWare v11 will support remote control over the internet (outside of your corporate network)
  • DameWare v11 will support a centralized architecture to ease management of licenses, users, and host lists

A few finer points of detail:

  • Centralized architecture will introduce two new server components - Central Server & Internet Proxy
  • The Central Server will allow the administrator to manage licensing, technician (user) accounts, global host list, personal hosts list
  • The Internet Proxy will be placed in your DMZ and allow your technician to initiate an Internet session to remote employee's machine

Feature FAQ (high level)

  • What will Central Server allow me to do?
    • Enter your license and activate all your seats in one go. There is no need to activate on each console individually.
    • Create an account and password for each technician. Technicians can login and change password from their console.
    • Add/Import hosts into a global host list that will be visible as read-only to all technicians.
    • One personal hosts list per user will be saved on the central server. Owned and populated by user (technician).
  • Will my technicians have to use centralized login with this version?
    • If you choose to deploy in centralized mode, then technicians will need to login
    • You have the option to continue to use DameWare in standalone mode. You will not realize any of the benefits of centralized architecture however. This includes "over the internet" capability.
  • How do I initiate an over the internet remote control session?
    • Place the Internet Proxy on the DMZ and ensure it is accessible from outside the network
    • Click Internet Session in MRC, pass session info to remote employee, who then connects to the session

Here are some screenshots of what you can expect to see:
