Virtual SQL Server 2008R2 CPU Issues

I have a 2008R2 ENT SQL Server with 2vCPU and 6 cores each, with Hot Add memory and CPU disabled so that the vm can utilize NUMA per VMWARE best practices for virtual SQL servers, and 24 GB of RAM.

Our front end server is a 2008R2 member server with simular configuration as the SQL server.  We have NCM, NPM, and SAM installed on it.

We have had NO issues until I configured SAM with the AppInsight for SQL.  We are monitoring 4 SQL instances and seeing bottle neck issues with the SQL server.  We used perfmon and isolated the issue down to the sqlserver service is causing the issue.  We are seeing the CPU go to 100% fro about 30 seconds then it drops back down for 1-2 minutes and back to 100 CPU.

The over all performance of Solarwinds has become very slow to respond.  Recent changes to solarwinds is upgrading all three products to the latest version and adding AppInsight for SQL for 4 SQL Instances.

We confirmed that the issue is with AppInsight for SQL by removing the nodes from AppInsight for SQL and the CPU pressure is back down to its normal ranges (about 15-30 %).

Has anyone experienced these kind of issues with a virtual SQL server and AppInsight for SQL??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
